The Moon

Here is the moon that was out on the night of October 12 2017 and the morning of October 13 2017.

For some reason I’ve wanted to take a lot of photo’s of the moon recently. At some point I might take a month and photograph the moon. I know there are/were other people who do take photographs of the moon over the course of the night or during a month, but I just want to give it a gander. Though I’m going to wait til I have a working car to do this, and to look for a good out-of-the-way spot with less light pollution to this small project.

Quarter Moon

Here is a photo of a Quarter Moon that I took this one evening in Arizona. It’s one of few photographs that I’ve taken of the Moon over the last four to six months.

As far as I know this it’s named a Quarter Moon; however, if it’s named differently please let me know and I’ll update this post.

Summer Solstice Moon

I took these photographs of the moon late at night on the night on (or before) of the Summer Solstice (June 20, 2016). It took a bit of time to adjust some settings of my camera to able to capture a clear series of photographs of the moon. It was one of those times I had one of those “Ah Ha” moments when I discovered how to do something different and its like bringing two puzzle pieces together.

For the longest time I wanted to take clear photographs of the Moon and I finally did. Now I know how which setting and dials on the camera to change to do this I’m going to try to capture other phases of the Moon.

In the past when I took photos at night there was enough light from street/parking lights that I didn’t need to change it before. I wasn’t able to photograph the moon when it was rising above the horizon.

Another Sunset Photo at Fallen Leaf Lake

The photograph below I took a few moments after the photo in the last post. In this photograph that I took with a Samsung phone – I’m looking towards the North – Northeast end of the lake.

Here is sunset taken at Fallen Leaf Lake, CA along route 89. It was a generally overcast day. Looking towards North by Northeast.

Overcast Sunset at Fallen Leaf Lake

Below is a photograph of a sunset that took one evening on Fallen Leaf Lake back in mid-October 2014 and I took it with my Samsung phone that I had at that time. It was looking towards the Northwest corner of the lake.

Enjoy.

Train Trip Through California

Here are some photographs that I took with my iPad on my way up to Oregon from Arizona. I managed a way to get to school and since I didn’t have my Canon Camera with me to take photographs the “next” best thing to do – is to take a couple of photographs with my iPad.

Granted these aren’t of the best quality of photographs which is kind of expected with a 1 and 1/2 old iPad.

These were between Paso Robles, CA and Salinas, CA except for the body of water in the gallery. Think I took the photograph in Oregon but not sure.

The Amtrak line that took these photos were on the Coast Starlight.

An Old Fire Pit

Here is some photographs of an old fire pit at my families place at South Lake Tahoe. Used to use this fire pit up to the mid 1980’s.

I swept away the top layer of pine needles to expose the old fire pit so I could take a photo of it from different angles. The fire pit hasn’t been used in over 30 years. As far as I know there’s no plans to use it ever again – giving the fire danger of the region.

Though, what I would like to do with it is to “dress it up” with benches and a table in the middle that would re-purpose the spot to eat outdoors.

There are a lot of things that I want to do with the place that I stayed at last year and it come’s down to money and time (another post for another time).

A Field of Sage

Here is some photo’s of a Sage field that is located on Fallen Leaf Road that is outside of South Lake Tahoe, CA., off of Route 89. This sage field is result of an controlled fire that happened about 6 to 8 years ago (not sure exactly when that controlled fire happened).

These photo’s were taken with my iPhone 5c on 13 November 2014. There might be a few that are blurry photos when I took them in the last 30 to 45 minutes of daylight of stated date.

Hope all of you would enjoy some photo’s until I get some more up on this site.
