links section of my site

I’m in the process of adding a links section to my site. Though, I’m still in the process of developing the admin/backend for the links section of this site. Its just getting all of the little details/bugs worked out before having it viewed in a “beta” form on my site. Another thing(s) that I want to do is try to have “clean” url’s when viewing by site type’s, names, or whatever the case may be.

I’m also thinking of making a form and a have table in the dbase to add more links to the site but then I’m not ready to develop cookies, and many other things, or at this point make things more complex than things should be at the moment.

Another thing is that I want to do is to learn more javascript – from the simple to more complex scripts. Though there are some site’s that have javascript already made for the public (I think) but its one of the programming tools that I want to learn.

I won’t do something like del.icio.us out of the links section that I’m adding to this site but it may be on the same type premis(sic).

But then, hopefully, by this coming summer I would have a better links section added to this site by then in some fashion. Who knows what would happen by then, in regards to this site.

web browsing and such

It seems that over the years that I’ve been browsing the web in some fashion or another, I tend to notice recently that the site’s that I’ve visited a lot have been growing smaller and smaller as the years go by. For example, several years I would visit at least 8 to 12 just about every day, but now it just seems that I’m just visiting no more than 6 to 8 sites at most. After about 2 to 3 hours of woundering around on the web I just want to shut of the computer and do something else, like reading a book.

Another thing that I’ve noticed is that that some site’s that I’ve visited in the first several years have either been shut down or merged with another site, and in some cases not even updated for the longest time.

There were really good site’s that I’ve found over the years but then thing’s do change. People’s interest in doing site’s or whatever about maintaining sites just ended up as a chore than anything else. I know it was making websites and such in the begining, but now I just don’t have the time nor the interest in having a constant update to my site. What I mean is that I want to add on, and do more stuff with my site but currently I’m using a windows pc, which in turn I get a creative block – basically I can’t be creative on a windows pc no matter where I am. If I was using an Apple Macintosh computer would be another thing altogether.

But hopefully thing’s would change this fall after I might get a new Mac computer, but at this point I don’t know if I would. If I did I would be adding stuf to my site. Like having a online bookmark’s, something similar to del.icio.us – which is a good service by the way. I might even intergate this blog and my site better than just a link.

I would just see how thing’s go for the rest of the summer.

School

Its one of those thing’s when I was online and checking stuff relating to school and such that I found out that I’ve been admitted to a degree program at UAF but it may or may not be the right undergrad programe that I want to be in. But, I would just have to wait and see about. UAF, is a good school and has many great programs, plus its location is also good to have for field studies to be done.

Things to do and whatnot…

Recently, it seems like that I want to do a lot of things with this blog and my site. I mean that I have a list of stuff that I would want to add and / or expand on this site, and it just seems that, while using a windoze pc, that I just unable to get around of doing things, like adding stuff to my site.

The things that I have on a list that I would like to do, which most of it would be powered by php that include the following things: a links section, photo album, and a custom built guestbook. Its just that I don’t like using windows and prefer to use a Macintosh computer for maintianing websites and related items (including everything else, too).

When I’m using a Windows pc my creative juice’s just don’t really flow that much, however my creative thinking flows a whole lot more with a Macintosh computer. Macintosh computer’s are a lot more stable in the long run, which I do like when I’m doing anything and everything really.

Adobe & Macromedia

I recently read that Adobe is buying out Macromedia for US$ 3.4Billion in a stock deal. Its seems that the only really good products that Adobe have are Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat. Their other products are O.K. and all but it just seems that this ‘merger’ or ‘buyout’ just seems wrong to me. Don’t know why but it does.

I just hope that products from Macromedia don’t get discontinued. Knowing my luck, Macromedia product more than likely would disapper altogether after a period of time after the buyout. I just hope that I’m wrong about Macromedia products disappering after awhile.

Plus, I use Macromedia Dreamweaver, along with the suite of software I use to maintain my site. Dreamweaver is one of the best html editors out there along with BBEdit.

In the end… this just bites big time.

Story on News.com

Adobe
| Macromedia

P.S. I’ve found the following two sites interesting PhotoMatt.net and Mike Chambers blog. The later I found by the way of the former site. Both are interesting to say the least.

People & crosswalks

One of things that I’ve noticed since the weather has warmed up and the snow melted off just about all of the main roads in here in Fairbanks, is that I’ve noticed that people really don’t really care if they go against traffic lights when crossing any giving road in downtown Fairbanks. Its just that when I see people start crossing the road is when I start going through some of the interestions on downtown streets. It seems like that people don’t give a flying fuck for their safety.

At somepoint, regardless of when, where someone could and will get hurt badly if people don’t cross streets safely. The thing is that when people do actully cross the or any street for that matter, is more often than not is against the light on the street that they have just crossed.
